My boyfriends right underarm was hurting him really bad out of no where a few days ago, and he said that it felt like a bruise of some sort. When he felt it, he felt a large bump almost like a knot. Also, he has no other symptoms of being sick, no lumps anywhere else, he doesn't have any fatigue, no fever, no sore throat, no swollen tonsils, no skin rash, definitely no loss of appetite, no weakness.
The pain, he described was only in that one spot. It was sore to the touch and it just hurt there in general. It looks like a bump beneath the skin, it's rather large, and it feels like a knot.
He's only 16 years old.
Any ideas on what this could be?|||It could be an ingrown hair. Have him put a hot wash cloth in it for a few minutes them squeeze it in a mirror if it is pus will come out and it will feel better. However, squeezing it will probably be very uncomfortable.|||ooo i had that when i was about 16 too..i had it for like a year and then it just disappeared! i dont think its anything to worry about..probably just a sist that will eventually disinegrate|||sounds like a lymph node to me|||It sounds like a swollen lymph node why he has this I am unsure he should tell his parents an go an see he dr about it.|||Go to a medical site and look at the diagrams of lymph nodes. That would be my first guess, a swollen node.|||Could be an ingrown hair, and could also be a zit (gross but possible). It could also be something else. There are glands under your arms, so there might be some problem with them. I'm sure there are many other possibilities, too.
He should probably see a doctor, though, just to make sure it isn't something serious.
