Spider bite, looks like herpes??? Help!?

Hi, I have a question here.





My uncle was sure he was bitten by a spider on his neck, he even said he slapped it off when it was biting him. He had muscle pain, vomiting, fever, and started getting a skin rash in that area. The first two days he couldn't even move his sore neck.





So anyway, he wouldn't listen to us, and didn't want to go to the doctor, until about four-five days later.





However, when the doctor saw him, he said it was herpes, or rather looked like herpes.





My uncle isn't very accepting of this, he says, there is no reason for him to have herpes. (My uncle is married, and pretty old fashion).





So my question is, how likely is it, that this can be a mistake? No tests were run, just diagnosed by the appearance of his rash.|||First of all, if it is herpes, he didn't get it on his neck from a sexual encounter. There are plenty of types of herpes. The kind on your body, other than your lips and genitals, is herpes zoster, also known as shingles. When your uncle was probably young, he had the chickenpox, and sometimes, the virus reactivates producing shingles, or blisters. Many older people get these. So, your uncle sounds like he has shingles, part of the herpes family. It sounds like the spider caused an injury to the skin which lead to a shingles outbreak. The virus lives in your nerves and comes out again under stress or injury. Trust your doctor and don't second guess it.|||doctors make mistakes, no test, no answers. doctors will say anything to get paid and you out of the office.|||His Dr. is an idiot if he will say that without a test!!! can c doctor if he want.|||sounds like to me that your uncle caught the herpes from a spyder you never know what those critters are carring|||did you explain to your doctor about the spider bite? you should, plz talk to your uncle and tell him the importance of getting treatment and going to the doctor to get a more proper diagnoses of this. If he did not have sexual relations, then the diagnoses could be a mistake.|||i would go to another doctor if he is still having problems with the bite and not leave till they do a test ,|||He needs to see a different doctor.|||LOL HE GOT HERPES FROM A SPIDER!|||Have your uncle go to an Infectious Disease physician, or at the least, have him go to an ER and ask to be tested for MRSA. Many people who are infected with MRSA, have been wrongly diagnosed with spider bites, herpes, cellulitis, etc. This may not be what is wrong, but if it is, he needs to get on antibiotics immediately.
